ASYAD GLOBAL START-UP CHALLENGE CONCLUDES WITH TOP 3 WINNERS
Asyad Group announced the three final winning companies of Asyad Global Start-Up Challenge organized in partnership with Hypermotion Dubai and Omantel, the Sultanate’s technology arm, winning a total prize of US$ 50,000. Showcasing how to harness emerging technologies to advance the transport and logistics sectors, Cubex Global from the UAE took home 1st place with a prize of US$ 25,000, while US-based UVL Robotics home-grown from Oman and PalletPal from the USA were awarded 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
The intense competition saw 12 semi-finalists pitch to a panel of international judges and investors. A launch-pad for budding entrepreneurs, Asyad Global Start-up Challenge provided participants with an opportunity to engage with peers from around the world and share sustainable forward-thinking solutions to increase the competitiveness of the sector both locally and internationally. In line with its drive to support local start-ups as a key driver of economic growth, Asyad Group sponsored the participation of 3 Omani companies in the challenge.
The last day of the Challenge included several enlightening discussions presented by Asyad Group represented by SOHAR Port and Freezone and Oman Post Asyad Express as well as its strategic partners, Omantel. The sessions focused on the importance of technology in port management, supply chain efficiencies and last mile delivery in e-commerce as well as 5G as a catalyst for sector growth.
The startup challenge was highly competitive and selective. Having whittled down almost 50 applications to just 12, the final competition included seven regional companies and five internationals.
As part of its efforts to bring Oman’s competitiveness in the logistics sector to the forefront, Asyad Global Logistics Start-up Challenge aimed to capitalize on the power of data and attract global talent all the while creating a nurturing environment for creative solutions. The innovation-driven event marked a successful participation of Asyad Group in Expo 2020 Dubai.
