About HUTCHISON PORTS SOHAR

Hutchison Port Sohar, the container terminal operator at Sohar Port, is a joint venture between Hutchison Ports, Asyad  and other shareholders. Sohar Port is situated outside the Straits of Hormuz – reducing carrier insurance premiums and overall freight costs. Its premier location close to global shipping routes places all major global ports within two weeks sail and offers rapid access to the growing Middle East, Indian and East-African markets.

Equipped to handle the latest generation of mega-vessels, the terminal offers mainline carriers secure, ultra-modern trans-shipment capabilities – with a proven track record of highly efficient container movement and vessel turnaround. The port has an 18-meter draft and offers guaranteed berth windows, a 100% on dock facility with storage availability and real time EDI transmission. Hutchison Ports Sohar has an annual capacity of 2 million TEU and is supported by new remote-controlled super-post panamax quay cranes, bringing the total number of cranes in operation to 13 units.

Customers benefit from swift access to the rapidly growing commercial and industrial hinterlands of the Sultanate as well as the wider GCC through a world-class network of modern highways – connecting major cities such as Muscat, Dubai and Abu Dhabi -all within four hours.

Hutchison Ports has a network of port operations in 52 ports spanning 27 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australasia and six ports in the Middle East.
