Asyad Ports and Freezones, Part of Asyad Group, Welcomes CMA CGM’s Services into Duqm Terminal, Expanding Oman’s Global Connectivity
Asyad Ports and Freezones, part of Asyad Group, Oman’s global integrated logistics provider, announced the official launch of CMA CGM’s regular vessel calls to Asyad Container Terminal – Duqm (ACT), following the arrival of the first vessel during December 2025. CMA CGM, one of the world’s largest shipping and logistics companies, now brings its global services to Duqm, strengthening the port’s role within Asyad Group’s logistics platform and reinforcing Oman’s position as a strategically connected gateway to the Indian Ocean.
CMA CGM’s decision to include Duqm within its global network represents a major milestone in the carrier’s ongoing expansion across the Middle East and Africa, while further solidifying Oman’s position as a competitive regional logistics hub. By connecting Duqm to one of the world’s largest shipping networks, the new service enhances the terminal’s role at the heart of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD), supporting its evolution into a future-ready platform for trade, industrial growth, international commerce and cold-chain logistics. This strengthens Duqm’s presence in the regional logistics landscape and opens broader opportunities for local industries to access global markets efficiently and competitively, particularly in dry and refrigerated cargo, which plays a central role in modern trade, in line with Asyad Group’s mandate to enhance Oman’s global trade connectivity through an integrated logistics ecosystem.
Omar Al Mahrizi, CEO of Asyad Ports and Freezones, emphasized the importance of this development by saying: “Welcoming CMA CGM to ACT is an important step in Duqm’s evolution as a strategic logistics and industrial platform. CMA CGM’s decision to include Duqm in their service network is a strong endorsement of the terminal’s reliability and efficiency. This partnership expands Duqm’s global reach, unlocks opportunities for exporters and importers, and supports the growth of key economic sectors. It marks another step in positioning the Port of Duqm as a competitive and fast-emerging hub on Oman’s Indian Ocean coast.”
“This service marks an important milestone in developing innovative, value-added logistics solutions tailored to the fisheries sector,” said Thiashen Govender, General Manager, CMA CGM Oman. “Our partnership with Ocean Fisheries and the deployment of the Ocean Fresh vessel underscore our commitment to connecting emerging markets with reliable, high-quality transport options.”
Suleiman Al Ghannami, CEO of Oceans Fisheries, emphasized the importance of Duqm as a fisheries logistics gateway: “Duqm gives us a clear strategic advantage; proximity to key fishing grounds, faster vessel turnaround, and seamless access to CMA CGM’s global network,” said Suleiman Al Ghannami, CEO of Oceans Fisheries. “This new call enhances our export capabilities and enables us to deliver high-quality Omani seafood to international markets more efficiently.”
The new call reinforces Duqm’s role as a strategic gateway linking Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, and the Middle East, enabled by Asyad Group’s integrated ports and logistics capabilities and long-term investment in world class infrastructure. It also highlights the readiness of Asyad Container Terminal, equipped with advanced systems and handling equipment, including ship-to-shore cranes, rubber-tyred gantries, container trucks and a fully prepared reefer infrastructure. Together, these capabilities enhance the terminal’s capacity to support the export of all dry and refrigerated cargo with fast, reliable access to global markets, while broadening import and export options for industrial and commercial customers across the region.
By integrating Duqm into its network, CMA CGM reinforces the Port of Duqm’s position as a competitive, trusted and future-ready logistics hub. This milestone aligns with Oman’s national logistics strategy and reflects Asyad Group’s role in strengthening global maritime connectivity, supporting economic diversification, and enhancing Oman’s competitiveness across international supply chains.
