KHAZAEN DRY PORT LAUNCHES SECURE CUSTOMS CORRIDOR WITH SOHAR IN STRATEGIC STEP TOWARD PORTS INTEGRATION
In a strategic move to advance Oman’s position as a regional and global logistics hub, Khazaen Dry Port—part of Asyad Group—has been officially recognized as a final customs destination for containers from international ports. The announcement also marks the launch of the Safe Customs Corridor with Sohar Port, reinforcing port-to-port integration and boosting the speed, efficiency, and fluidity of national supply chains.
This milestone represents a major advancement in streamlining Oman’s import, export, and re-export activities. By enabling faster, more flexible container transfers between Khazaen and Sohar, the new corridor boosts logistical performance, reduces clearance times and lowers operational costs for businesses. It also offers Omani companies’ smoother access to global markets through a simplified, customs-friendly framework, enhancing their competitiveness and accelerating private sector growth.
The Directorate General of Customs at the Royal Oman Police has been instrumental in enabling this project, fostering a secure and agile system that allows for one-stop clearance at Khazaen Dry Port. The Safe Customs Corridor is built on a modernized customs framework that replaces traditional sealing methods with shipping agent seals and allows written financial undertakings in lieu of bank guarantees. These measures reflect Asyad Group's commitment to facilitating cross-border trade and providing a flexible and secure business environment that aligns with global practices and supports the growth of both the commercial and logistics sectors. This further establishes Khazaen Dry Port as a comprehensive and central hub within the supply chain.
“This milestone represents a turning point in shaping a more agile and competitive logistics landscape in Oman. It empowers businesses with smarter, more reliable trade solutions and reinforces Oman’s role as a dynamic gateway between regional and global markets. This reaffirms Asyad Group commitment to enabling growth through forward-thinking logistics and seamless cross-border trade fully aligned with the ambitions of Oman Vision 2040.”, said said Saad Bait Nasib, Executive Director of KDP at Asyad Group.
Khazaen Dry Port is an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification, an internationally recognized customs accreditation that grants trusted businesses a range of advantages, including expedited clearance procedures, reduced inspections, access to green lanes, and priority customs handling. This status also streamlines export procedures to countries with mutual recognition agreements with Oman, reinforcing global confidence in Omani companies and boosting their competitiveness on the international stage.
