Record-Breaking 232 Projects in 2024: Asyad Drydock Accelerates Toward Global Maritime Leadership

Asyad Drydock, a subsidiary of Asyad Group, marked an unprecedented year in 2024, delivering 232 projects with unmatched efficiency, the highest annual output since operations began in 2011. This milestone raises the company’s cumulative project count to over 2,000, solidifying its reputation as a premier force in ship repair and maintenance across the region.
In remarks to Oman News Agency, Ahmed bin Ali Al Bulushi, Chief Executive Officer of Asyad Drydock and Infrastructure Services, emphasized that the Drydock has proudly served over 800 global clients from 70 countries a testament to the rising confidence in its technical expertise and operational excellence.
Al Bulushi underscored Drydock’s pivotal role in driving economic value within the Special Economic Zone at Duqm by attracting global maritime giants for ship repair and maintenance, creating sustainable employment opportunities, and fortifying supply chains. These initiatives amplify Duqm’s stature as a fully integrated regional hub for maritime industries and support services.
Driving Local Growth and Global Reach
In line with its commitment to national impact, Asyad Drydock awarded OMR 8.4 million in contracts to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and OMR 11.1 million to local companies, constituting 82% of all contracts in 2024. The company further invested nearly OMR 14 million in local imports, OMR 5.8 million in services, and OMR 2.3 million in Omani-made goods, reinforcing its pledge to strengthen domestic supply networks.
Through its Supplier Development Program, Asyad Drydock successfully redirected over OMR 414,000 in procurement from international suppliers to local businesses, spanning specialized services such as industrial diving and advanced material sourcing embedding local enterprises deeper into national supply chains.
Raising Standards Through Innovation
Asyad Drydock advanced its operational edge in 2024 by securing American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) accreditation for propeller blade repairs on large vessels, deploying next-generation eco-friendly coating systems, and adopting robotic hull-cleaning technologies. These moves reflect a steadfast commitment to sustainable operations and uncompromising quality.
A Clear Path to 2025 and Beyond
Al Bulushi stated, "In the first half of 2025, we achieved 15% revenue growth compared to the same period in 2024, demonstrating sustained financial strength and operational excellence. These results empower us to move forward with confidence as we execute expansion plans focused on efficiency, digital transformation, talent development, and global partnerships, cementing Asyad Drydock’s role as a cornerstone in the global maritime sector."
As part of its strategic diversification, Asyad Drydock is advancing into new frontiers, particularly in the oil and gas sector through the delivery of specialized, high-value services for offshore platforms. Target markets, including Africa, Japan, and the United States, present significant opportunities to expand its vessel throughput and elevate client satisfaction.
