Oman Post, part of the Asyad Group, has announced the successful launch and implementation of its innovative automated parcel sorting machine. Launching the new system highlights Oman Post’s commitment to implementing the latest technology to expedite the processing of postal materials, improve productivity, and increase the efficiency of delivering parcels to customers. This AI based system is capable of handling up to 6,000 packages per hour, sorting over 12 lines per run, with a maximum weight of 20 Kg, and maximum sizes of 40 cm height and 50 cm width per parcel. The system also records the weight of the shipment and provides optical reading for its data to compare it with the International postal system (IPS), and the Delivery Management Software (Fareye) and validate the recorded data. In addition to that, the system’s complete package traceability feature offers customers the ability to track their parcels in real time.

Commenting on the new launch, Sheikh Ibrahim bin Sultan Alhosni, Acting CEO of Oman Post and Asyad Express, stated, “Oman Post consistently keeps pace with the latest technological advancements that meet customers’ aspirations, and provides high-quality services in line with the international best practices. The new automated technology was implemented in partnership with global partners, BlueCrest and Emerdis. This will transform the way we handle parcels by increasing processing speed, improving operational efficiency, and reducing errors and operation cost. We are confident that our advanced solutions will enable us to streamline our operations and deliver exceptional service to our customers.”

Rohan Mathur, Director of Emerdis Limited, highlighting the importance of this strategic partnership, said: “We are delighted to have delivered the first automated parcel sorting system with image reading OCR in Oman. The investment sets the stage for Oman Post to attract incremental parcel volumes and expand their service capabilities”.

Oman Post prioritizes innovation to improve customer experience as the new automated parcel sorting machine is a substantial investment that enhances handling capacity, streamlines operations, and reduces delivery time.  With the installation of this system, Oman Post takes a significant step forward in providing exceptional logistics services to its customers.
