In operation since 2004 and situated outside the Strait of Hormuz, Sohar is at the heart of global trade routes connecting Europe and Asia, offering unrivalled connectivity and tremendous growth opportunity. The Port is a 21 million sqm deep-sea hub comprising three established major clusters – logistics, petrochemicals and metals. More recently joined by a food cluster, which includes Oman’s first-ever terminal dedicated to the handling of agricultural bulk. The port is within two weeks sail of all major global ports, enabling swift access to the rapidly growing markets of the GCC, India and East-Africa.
Sohar Port and its adjacent Free Zone are managed by Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC), a 50:50 joint venture between Asyad and the Port of Rotterdam. The Port terminals are operated by leading international companies: C. Steinweg Oman for general cargo handling, Oiltanking Terminals for liquid bulk handling, and Hutchison Port Sohar for container handling, with the container offering benefitting from remote-controlled gantries capable of servicing the largest of the world’s container ships.

The port also employs remote-controlled drones for swift and seamless maintenance operations. As part of Sohar’s commitment to sustainability, Sohar Industrial Port Company recently partnered with Shell to power facilities through PV solar energy.
The Sohar Port and its adjacent Freezone host entire supply chains, from production to delivery in one connected and easily accessible area.
Sohar Port prides itself in industry leading technology, a state-of-the-art management and vessel notification system as well as a new “SOHAR Navigate” platform – which is the first of its kind in the region and provides information on connections to hinterland destinations and a network of 550 ports worldwide.
Sohar Port is part of Asyad Group - Oman’s new integrated logistics provider bringing together 16 logistics companies and joint ventures under one entity, improving performance, creating efficiencies, offering economies of scale and providing bespoke logistics solutions to global and regional customers.
