Asyad Group, Oman's global integrated logistics provider, has commenced the first phase of construction at the Muscat Airport Free Zone, a key project to enhance infrastructure and solidify the zone’s status as a global business hub for foreign direct investment.
Focused on creating a modern, attractive business environment, the project will offer world-class logistics support and facilities designed to attract global and regional companies, financial institutions, general trade firms, and startups. Phase one includes land preparation, leveling, the construction of internal roads, and public service facilities. Additionally, an administrative office complex will be developed in collaboration with the private sector.
By moving forward with this project, Asyad Group underscores its commitment and contribution to accelerating economic growth in Oman. The free zone’s strategic location adjacent to Muscat International Airport heightens its economic importance and ensures its seamless integration within Asyad’s extensive logistics network. This network links land and sea gateways, the dry port, and free and special economic zones, with the goal of boosting exports and imports, particularly for fast-moving products like pharmaceuticals, food, and e-commerce shipments.
As a strategic initiative, the Muscat Airport Free Zone is set to establish an integrated logistics center with world-class air freight capabilities. Asyad, the zone’s developer and operator, aims to provide a comprehensive business environment with tax and customs exemptions and commercial facilities, positioning the zone as a premier investment destination and international business hub in Muscat.
The project also offers unique long-term investment opportunities for the private sector, fostering stability and sustainability for partner companies. This model supports the development of high-value strategic assets within the free zone, contributing to Oman’s national economy and creating new jobs in construction, logistics, and other sectors.
Faisal Ali Al Balushi, Director – Muscat International Airport Free Zone at Asyad Group, said: “As Oman’s first free zone of its kind, this strategic project highlights our commitment to private sector partnerships in building a leading air logistics hub. It will drive economic growth and unlock limitless opportunities for both local and global companies in the logistics sector.”
Al Balushi added: “The free zone presents a golden opportunity for Omani private sector growth, offering competitive advantages and promising investment prospects.”
Through projects like these, Asyad Group remains focused on advancing Oman’s Vision 2040 goals, including boosting the country’s ranking in the Global Competitiveness Index.
