OMAN AND TANZANIA SIGN PACT TO BOOST SERVICES

Asyad Group, represented by Oman Post and Asyad Express announced entering the Tanzanian market through signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shirika La Posta Tanzania (Tanzania Post Corp-TPC) to boost postal services and e.trade solutions between the two countries.

The MoU was signed by Nasser Ahmed al Sharji, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Post and Macrice Daniel Mbodo, chairman of the corporation.

The MoU is on exchange of expertise and skills in the field of supply chains of the e.trade including the expertise of the two sides in the treasury solutions in Tanzania.

The MoU also dealt with issuance of joint postal stamps to document the historic and cultural ties between the Sultanate and Tanzania and sale of postal stamps and possessions through the e. stores of Oman Post and TPC.

Nasser Ahmed Al Sharji, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Post and Asyad Express said that the strategic partnership with TPC is the first step towards expanding the international door-to–door delivery services and the launch of new services  in African markets. The MOU would open new trade opportunities between the two countries through offering packages of e. trade and logistics services in the Tanzanian markets, one of the fastest growing and emerging markets, he added.

He also pointed out that this partnership would increase the volume of e. trade between the two countries, which would enable the customers to shop via the Internet from the African markets and receive their purchases directly through the last mile delivery service in the Sultanate of Oman.

The partnership would also open new investment channels for the private sector and the SMEs in Oman and the small and medium companies in Tanzanian markets as well as expanding to the neighbouring African markets.

On the other hand, Macrice Daniel Mbodo said that the rapid growth of e. trade would contribute to changing the work culture in the postal sector and this partnership would support the transformation of the services offered by TPC to meet the expectations of customers.
