TANZANIA’S PRESIDENT EXPERIENCES OMANI LOGISTICS EXCELLENCE IN A HISTORIC VISIT TO ASYAD GROUP

A tour of Asyad’s flagship Fulfilment Centre gives Her Excellency a comprehensive overview of Asyad Group’s leading integrated logistics solutions

President Samia Suluhu of the United Republic of Tanzania and her accompanying delegation visited Asyad Group at its flagship Fulfillment Centre to get acquainted with the comprehensive logistics solutions and competitive advantages offered by the Group to promote trade and economic activities between Oman and Tanzania.

During her visit, the President was introduced to Asyad Group’s full suite of services that encompasses ports, free zones, shipping, dry dock, as well as its competitive logistic solutions including direct container lines, freight forwarding, cold chain, e-commerce, last mile and express delivery services.

The President also toured Asyad Fulfilment Centre to familiarize herself with its operations and role as a supply chain accelerator across local and global markets. During the tour, Asyad management reviewed with Her Excellency the terms of memorandum of understanding (MOU) recently signed between Asyad Group, represented by Oman Post and Asyad Express, and Tanzania Post. The MOU that marked the first strategic co-operation between Oman and Tanzania in e-commerce and postal services, aims at exchanging best-practice knowledge and expertise between the two countries.

Ahmed bin Ali Al Balushi, Group Chief Asset Management, said: “This visit reaffirms the strategic importance of the commercial partnership between Asyad Group and Tanzania Post through mutual efforts aimed at enhancing trade exchange between the Omani and African markets, and connecting Omani entrepreneurs with rapidly-growing African markets that count more than 400 million customers.



On this occasion, Nasser bin Ahmed Al Sharji, CEO of Oman Post and Asyad Express explained that this collaboration represents a solid opportunity for Asyad to strengthen the trade links and expand its logistics services into the African markets. Being the fourth largest e-commerce consumer base in the African continent, the Tanzanian market is a promising opportunity for the group to deploy its e-commerce and logistics services, and cement Oman’s position as the logistics hub of choice for growth markets.

The President concluded her visit by commending Asyad Group’s efforts towards providing competitive and global logistic services and strengthening trade and economic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Tanzania.
