Within its efforts to support sustainable community initiatives and with the aim of equipping the youth with various skills, Asyad Group, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research & Innovation, has offered scholarships for logistics studies to General Education Diploma (GED) Graduates, pursuant to the Higher Education Admission Center.
This initiative falls within the framework of a co-operation agreement in the field of higher education and scholarships, signed between the Ministry, represented by the Minister of Higher Education, Research & Innovation, Dr. Rahma Bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi on the one hand, and Asyad Group represented by its CEO, Engineer Abdulrahman Salem Al Hatmi, on the other hand.
The agreement stipulates that Asyad Group shall offer scholarships, for logistic studies to be granted to GED graduates, pursuant to the Higher Education Admission Center. The Group also offers on-job training courses.
This agreement reflects both parties’ will to promote and develop their co-operation in academics and stems from Asyad Group’s CSR and sustainability principles of which education constitutes an important pillar. This collaboration also aims to supply the labor market with specialized logistics graduates, part of the Oman Vision 2040 towards higher comprehensive education and scientific research for a society of knowledge and competitive national personnel.
Through this agreement, the Ministry seeks to promote its partnerships with private sector institutions and encourage co-operation to secure education opportunities within the Sultanate for GED graduates.
Engineer Abdulrahman Salem Al Hatmi, Asyad Group CEO stated that “This partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research & Innovation is a reflection of the Group’s efforts to render the logistics sector a principal partner in utilizing education as the catalyst for development and innovation within the sector, thus, increasing its competitiveness to attract foreign investment. Education is also a pillar of Asyad Group’s sustainability strategy for the year 2022”.
AbdulMalik Al Balushi, the Group Chief People Officer, stated that “This partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research & Innovation is a reflection of the Group’s efforts to render the logistics sector a principal partner in utilizing education as the catalyst for development, innovation, and sustainability within the sector”.
He confirmed that this step would bridge the skills gap in the sector and support it with the national competent talent to respond to continuing developments occurring within the logistics industry. Furthermore, it is an extension of the Group’s interest in education, particularly International Maritime College Oman, which caters to the sector with 250 graduates annually. Additional partnerships and initiatives supporting youth activities launched by the Group such as “Ibhar” Incubator and the “Tomooh” Program are to support entrepreneurship and promote SMEs’ role in contributing to the growth of the logistics sector.
