Asyad Group, Oman’s Global integrated logistics provider, kicks off today Asyad Global Logistics Challenge in collaboration with Hypermotion Dubai and the Sultanate’s technology arm, Omantel. As a part of the lineup of Expo 2020 Dubai and running for 3 days from November 2nd to 4th 2021, the challenge will see Omani data analysts, startups and entrepreneurs, sponsored by Asyad, come together with their international counterparts from 15 countries across 6 continents to solve real-world problems facing the logistics sector.
Over the first two days, the event will see 45 data analysts from Oman, UAE, Belgium, India, Turkey, Australia, Morocco, Belarus, Brazil, Ukraine, Iraq and Pakistan showcase their skills and share ideas on how to harness emerging technologies to advance the transport and logistics sectors, while utilizing real-time data from Asyad. Participants will be spending nine hours working on their solutions which will be continuously evaluated by AI algorithms. 588 applications were received from all over the world including 88 from budding national talents.
Asyad Logistics Startup Challenge, will see 12 startups from Oman, UAE, Netherlands, USA, Australia, and Qatar compete in six key growth pillars for mobility and transport logistics, namely artificial intelligence, cyber security, robotics, logistics, smart mobility and drones. Evaluated by a panel of local and global logistics and technology experts, startups will have the opportunity to pitch to local and international investors. A total of 44 startups applied to join the challenge of which 23 were local Omani companies.
On the sidelines, a number of workshops and panel discussions will also address key topics related to the logistics sector and the role of technology and data in providing innovative and competitive solutions. CNN news anchor Eleni Giokos will be sitting down with Chief Executive Officer of Asyad Group, Abdulrahman Al Hatmi to further explore ‘How an Integrated Supply Chain Model Weathers Tectonic Global Shifts’.

Aiming to capitalize on the power of data and attract global talent, the Group is looking to create a nurturing environment where creative solutions are adopted for a more efficient supply chain.
Asyad Group has successfully completed a major air cargo operation involving the urgent shipment of over 200 tons of critical electronics equipment for one of India’s largest conglomerates. This project, executed in a very tight deadline, involved complex coordination across four countries and multiple air carriers, underscoring Asyad’s capability to manage time-sensitive, high-value cargo on a global scale.
